John "Jack" George Kerr, 96, of Bemidji, MN, died Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 am, Monday, November 1, 2010 at the St. Philip's Catholic Church in Bemidji, MN with Father Carlos Velez officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 pm, with a Rosary at 7:30pm, on Sunday, October 31, 2010, at the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Bemidji, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

He was born April 18, 1914 in Bemidji, the son of George and Ella (McGarry) Kerr. He was a lifelong Bemidji resident. He attended Bemidji grade schools until the 7th grade. He attended 7th and 8th grade at St. Philip's Catholic School. He attended Bemidji High School and went on to attend Bemidji State Teacher's College and eventually graduated from French's Business College.

He managed a fruit store in town, worked for Bemidji Candy Company, and then started his career as a salesman. He sold for Ford Motor Co. and was the top salesman in the Northern area, stretching from International Falls, down to Bemidji, over to Duluth, for 1939-1941.

He enlisted as a pilot in the Army Air Corps during WWII, and served honorably from 1944 until 1946.

He married Margaret Vincent in Bemidji, MN, on January 18, 1946. Together they had two children. He worked as an automobile salesman and dealer, selling Studebakers, Cadillacs, and Oldsmobiles. He ran a Studebaker dealership until he retired. After retiring he sold vacuum cleaners for Electrolux. He was an aviation lover, building and flying glider in Northern Minnesota. He loved fishing, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Sherman and Donald.
