Son of the late James Blanton Lane and Mamie Johnson Lane.
He was a member of East Dillon Baptist Church, and was a retired U.S. Army Veteran having served in World War II, and three tours in Vietnam. He received the World War II Victory Medal, the European Occupation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with the First Oakleaf Cluster, and the Vietnam Service Medal with the Four Bronze Star. He was a life member of the VFW, a life member of the American Legion, and a life member of Non Commissioned Officer's Association.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jacqueline Lane; brother, James Lane; and his sister, Mildred McGrady.
