Moved with his parents and family from Kansas to Potomac, Missoula County, Montana between 1917 and 1920, then on to Yakima, Yakima County, Washington by 1923 where he lived until his death
While walking home from school one day, Cecil intervened when some bullies started picking on his sister, Pauline. Pauline ran home to get help, but when they returned they found Cecil drowned in the irrigation canal adjacent to the path they had been on. They were never able to determine how he ended up in the canal.
