John Allen Bratton

age 64, loving husband and father, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 27, 2013. John grew up in Bessemer and attended McAdory High School. He joined the Marine Corps and served his country for four years. During that time, he received the Vietnam Service Medal, Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, and the Presidential Unit Citation.
John was a member of The Church at Ross Bridge and his hobbies were gardening, fishing, and golf.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Patricia Bratton, his daughter, Victoria Catrett, (John) of Rutledge, AL, his son, Wesley Bratton (Laura) of Jacksonville, FL, his stepson, Scott Holtzclaw of Bessemer, his grandchildren, John Braden Catrett, Addison Brooke Catrett, Jackson Wesley Bratton, Rhett Patrick Bratton, Leah Catherine Bratton, and Ella Claire Holtzclaw, his mother, Mary Louise Bratton Gable, brothers, William W., Richard T. (Georgianne) and Kenneth R. (Wanda) Bratton, sisters, Shirley A. Caldwell, Kaye Perry (Johnny) and Janice Parrish (Phillip), and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10-12 PM at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Services will be at 12 PM at the church with Pastors John Mount and Carroll Andrews officiating. Interment will follow in Alabama National Cemetery.
