BLACK, J. D. (DARRELL) - age 50 of Mascot. Surrounded by his family, Darrell went peacefully to be with his Lord after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, October 27, 2013, at Tennova North Medical Center. He was a member of Rutledge Pike Baptist Church and a retired truck driver. Preceded by father, James (Honeycutt) Black; step-father, Kermit Walker; grandparents, Curtis and Grace Black, and Ben and Aileen Allen. Survived by wife, Carolyn Davis Black; children, Dustin Black (Lauren), Darren Black (Desiree), Tiffany Mynatt (Jason), Katie Black, Crystal Smiley (Mike), Tracy Emert (Marty), and Holly Reece (Jason Kitts, fiancée); grandchildren, Blake Mynatt, Deklyn Walker Mynatt, Gabby Black, Ricky Harrell, Steven Emert, Matthew Smiley, MacKenzie Smiley, Carley (Handsome) Smiley, Zackery Reece, Darren Emert, Taylor Emert, Gabe Kitts, Andrew Kitts, and Katie Kitts; expected grandchildren, Aubrey Quinn Black and another blessing in May; mother, Betty Walker; brothers, David Black (Janet), Dewayne Black (Neth), Chris Black (Jodie), David Walker (Kim), Steve Walker (Pam); brothers-in-law, Bob Davis (Joann), and Donnie Davis (Lisa); sister-in-law, Debbie Wolfenbarger (Leonard); nieces and nephews, Miranda Ratliff (Jonathan), Tyler Black, Kate Black, Micheala Black, Megan Thorpe (Nick), Melizza Black; several special aunts and uncles; several great nieces and nephews; and special friends, David Roberts, and Stanley and Shirley Thurman. A celebration of Darrell's life will be held 7:00 PM Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at Bridges Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Zavattieri and Rev. Jeff Leach officiating. Family and friends will meet 2:15 PM Thursday at Bridges Funeral Home and proceed to New Corinth Cemetery for a 3:00 PM interment. Pallbearers: Ricky Harrell, Matthew Smiley, Scott Hickey, Jeff Black, Todd Black, and Scott Hodge. Honorary pallbearers: nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society , 871 Weisgarber Road, Knoxville, TN 37909, or the American Diabetes Association , 211 Center Park Drive, Suite 3010, Knoxville, TN 37922. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday at Bridges Funeral Home.
