Thomas Kennedy entered the US Service Revolutionary War, in Burke County, North Carolina he believes early in the year 1775, a volunteer. He was appointed a Captain of the mounted men, and was attached to Colonel Christopher Bateman's regiment.
On the 20th day of August 1832, General Thomas Kennedy aged near 70, resident of Garrard County, Kentucky appeared in court of records, swore a declaration of his service in the Revolutionary War to receive benefits.
He was a hero at the Battle of Kings Mountain.
