Mildred L. (Gammon) Quinn, 88, of Spencer, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Owen Valley Health Campus in Spencer. She was formerly a resident of Shoals and Indianapolis.

Mildred was born on April 23, 1925 in Shoals, Indiana to Clay and Sophia (Abel) Gammon. She was first married to Paul Hovis. She then married Melvin "Gene" Quinn in January of 1955 and he preceded her in death on October 11, 1963.

She retired from U.S. Naval Weapons Support Center in Crane as a bookkeeper. When she lived in Shoals, she attended the Fairview Community Church.

She is survived her family, including son, James C. Hovis of Shoals; three daughters, Brenda White of Spencer, Melvina Reynold of Indianapolis and Debra Wyatt of Greencastle; nine grandchildren; ten greatgrandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Juanita "Jeannie" Quinn, in 1986; and a brother, Elmer Gammon, in 1994.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2013 at the Queen-Lee Funeral Home in Shoals. A funeral will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Spring Hill Cemetery.
