Harlan Clinton Russell, age 62, of Bertram, Texas passed away on October 27, 2013. Harlan was born on August 10, 1951 to Arlie and Oletha Russell and lived his entire life in his childhood home near Bertram, Texas where he carried on the family tradition of farming and ranching. Harlan was the epitome of a good neighbor, friend and model citizen of his community. His involvement and service to the Farmers Mutual Insurance Board, the Farm Bureau, the Farm Service Agency (FSA) Board of Directors, his service as a Burnet County Election Judge and his 20 year commitment of service on the Board of Directors for the Hill Country Soil and Water Conservation District, as well as serving as one of the FSA Committee of 100 that met with the Texas Legislature to represent Burnet County are just some of the ways Harlan gave back to the community he loved. Harlan loved farming and ranching, guns, pawn shopping and sharing good food with friends. He was a gifted mechanic, a skilled equipment operator and had a knack for fixing most anything. Harlan was preceded in death by his parents, Arlie and Oletha Russell. Although Harlan never married or had children of his own, Harlan leaves behind a large family made up of cousins, friends and business associates that will forever be touched by their relationship with Harlan. The family would like to express our love and gratitude to Anna and Graham Parks for opening their hearts and home to Harlan and his care during his last months. Their selfless sacrifice has endeared them to our hearts forever. Those serving as pallbearers will be David Fraley, Terry Wadkins, Ronnie Price, Norman Snow, Curtis Wolf, Billy McCoy and Graham Parks. Graveside services for Harlan will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Mahomet Cemetery at 2:00 PM with Paul Pryor officiating.
