1) He was the son of Jonah and Hannah (Barnum) Spencer.
2) He died in Lyndon, Vermont, at the home of his son (Wallace) with whom he resided his last few years.
3) He was married twice.
4) He married his first wife, Catherine L., in circa 1848, and with her, had at least 3 sons: John, b. 7/11/1849; Joseph "Wallace," b. 1857; and Franklin, b. 1863.
5) He married his second wife, widow Louanna M. (Stickle) Doty, in 1876 in Plattsburgh, New York. Louanna was born on 8/20/1831 in New York. She had a daughter, Della Doty, b. 1868, who Talmadge reported in the 1880 Westville, NY, census that she was his adopted daughter.
