She was born June 3, 1921, the daughter of Joe and Agnes (Lawler) Gearing. She married George Koons on August 10, 1946, and he survives at Otterbein Saint Marys.
She is also survived by her four children: Michael (Mary Jo) Koons of Vandalia, Ohio; William (Nancy) Koons of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; Jeanetta (Mark) Muhlenkamp of Englewood, Ohio; Barb (Ken) Niekamp of Centerville, Ohio.
She is also survived by her nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and by a sister, Florence Jones, of Saint Marys.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by one sister, Mary Scott, and one brother, Don Gearing.
Margaret was a 1939 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. She retired from Holy Rosary School, where she worked in the school cafeteria. She was very committed to her church, Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys, and made it the center of her life. She enjoyed golfing and spending her winters in Florida. She liked to sew and cook and made fabulous noodles. She dearly loved her family and their yearly family vacations.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 2, 2013, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Reverend Barry Stechschulte, celebrant. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
