(Marit) Mary Hanson was born in Gulbrandsdalen, Norway on Sept. 1, 1877, the daughter of Johannes and Guri (Erlandson) Dalen. She was baptized in Lesje church in Norway on Jan. 20, 1878. At the age of nearly four, she came with her parents to the Lowry community. She attended country school near Lowry and was confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran church. On March 7, 1903 she was united in marriage to Hans M. Hanson at Glenwood. They homesteaded in Souris, N. D. And farmed there from 1903 to 1906 when they came to Reno twp. Where they farmed until the death of Mr. Hanson in 1950 after which Mrs. Hanson moved to Lowry. She was a member of the Free church in Lowry for several years and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church for the past 40 years. She was an active member of the ladies' aid and other church organizations. She died suddenly at Lowry on Saturday, Jan. 7, as the result of a heart attack.
Mrs. Hanson is survived by one daughter, Mrs. John (Mabel) Cooley of Glenwood; two grandchildren, Mrs. Melvin (Shirley) Nelson of Minneapolis and Donald Cooley of Lowry; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Henry Weisel of Minneapolis; four brothers, John and Sigurd Dalen of Marchwell, Sask., Canada, Martin Dalen of Starbuck and Otto Dalen of Glenwood; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and infant daughter; two sons in infancy and two sons, Johnny and Herbert; one sister, Gena; one brother, Emil, and her parents.
