Alfred G. "Bud" Bauer Jr., 79, of Elyria, died Monday, June 30, 2008, at Main Street Care Center in Avon Lake, following a long illness. He was born December 31, 1928, in Elyria, where he was a lifelong resident.
Bud was the owner-operator of Bauer Dairy in Elyria. He was a 1947 graduate of Elyria High School. He worked at Smith Dairy in Elyria from 1977 until retiring in 1990. Bud was a volunteer at EMH Regional Medical Center from 1991 until 2005, and he enjoyed attending his grandchildren's basketball games.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary (nee Byam); daughters, Jody (Joe) Zalka of LaGrange and Jayne (Bob) Carlson of Grafton; son, John S. (Madalyn) Bauer of Medina; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Kathleen Murphy of Elyria; and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred G. Sr. and Mary Bauer; grandson, Joseph J. Zalka III; and sister, Joyce Bauer.
