Rose {Bull} Pease Klucznik
July 31st, 1913 to February 17th, 1989
Rose (Bull) Pease Klucznik (1913-1989) was a talented artist, designer, businesswoman, and singer. She grew up in Chicago where she married Robert Earle Pease October 27, 1933. In 1942, Rose and Robert moved to Crocker, and their son, Allen Earle Pease was born June 12, 1944. Robert died December 7, 1947, leaving Rose to struggle as a single mother. She did not have the money to pay for a grave and headstone, but the Chesterton Cemetery allowed her to make installment payments on her husband's grave. Today (March 13, 2022), the site of the grave is uncertain as there has never been a marker or headstone in place. According to the family, after Robert's death, the county determined that Rose was not financially fit to raise her son and put him into the foster system. Through some roundabout paperwork, Rose's sister and brother-in-law in Jackson Township were able to foster him. For several years, Rose worked and went to design school in an effort to establish herself so she could regain custody of her son. Rose was a talented designer and hard worker. While working for a clothing manufacturer in Chesterton, she met Raymond W. Klucznik, whom she married December 30, 1952. The couple opened their own design and clothing company on Grant St. in Chesterton called Arkay Garments Factory Co. The early years were difficult. Rose and Raymond traveled all over the country selling their designs. Throughout her adulthood, Rose sang for groups and churches, participated in local theater, and was active in community groups including the VFW Auxiliary. She attended Crocker Bible Church until she moved to Chesterton.
