Arnetta Kathryn "Nina" Johnson, 68, died Dec. 21, 2009, surrounded by her family at the home of her daughter in Dry Fork, after a 10 month long journey with cancer.

She was born Nov. 29, 1941, at Detroit, Mich., to the late Albert Christoff and Mildred Emily Wolfe Christoff.

She blessed all with her sense of humor and generosity. Her self-confessed hobby was shopping for those she loved. Nina's true passion was traveling. Her favorite destinations were Italy and Spain. She described herself as a "culture junkie and travel addict." A wish of hers was to have world peace and she lived it, as she was an involved peace activist. Reading and listening to music of all cultures were two more of her passions.

Nina is survived by her husband, James Otis Johnson; daughter, Holly Hinkle and son-in-law, Matthew Hinkle; grandsons, Alexander "Max" Yax and Mateo Hinkle of Dry Fork.

She was preceded in death by her children, Kimberly A. Johnson, James O. Johnson and Jack "J.B." Johnson; and sisters, Shirley and Patty.

She resided in Bowden, Everglades City, Fla., and Harsens Island, Mich.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 28, in St. Mark's Catholic Church at Harsens Island, Mich.
