Les passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, March 5, 2007, at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center. He was born September 5, 1913, in Kansas City, Mo., to Frank P and Eileen (O'Reilly) Muehlbach. He graduated from Rockhurst High School and Rockhurst College. During World War II, Les served his country by working at the Sunflower Ordnance plant in DeSoto, Kan., at the same time running a Western Auto Store in Leavenworth, Kan., with his wife Dottie from 1941 to 1944. Prior to the end of the war, Les returned to Kansas City in 1944 to enter the family grocery business with his grandfather, father and uncle. He was active in the former George Muehlbach and Sons Grocery on the Plaza and other locations from that time until his retirement in 1984. Les enjoyed the "fishing crowd" and bridge games. He was a devoted Catholic and quietly led by his Christian values. Les was preceded in death by Dorothy, his wife of 64 years, and his brother, Robert R., who joined him in the family business. He is survived by his sons, Frank (Ginny), Jack (Rita), Bob (Maggie), Mike, Chris (Kitty) and his daughter Mary Martin (Dennis), as well as his grandchildren: Doon, Lisa, Jay, Jordan, Brett, Deron, Conrad, Eric, Shauna, Austin, Cooper and Grady. A celebration of Les's life will be held Thursday, March 8, from 4 to 7 p.m., at McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City, Mo., the rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 9, 10 a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 13520 W. 92nd St., Lenexa, Kan., with burial following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are by McGilley State Line Chapel
