Amherst-Erhardt J. Pohlmann, 84, owner of the Amherst Monument Co. before retiring 18 years ago, died yesterday at 1:35 p.m. in Amherst Hospital after an illness of six months. He lived at 579 Church St.
A native of Bavaria, Germany, Mr. Pohlmann moved to Amherst 13 years ago from Elyria. He was a monument artist most of his life and was a member of St. peter United Church of church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife, Harriet L. and a brother and two sisters in Germany.
The Rev. Robert A. Happel will officiate at the funeral service Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Garland Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received in the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
