SOUTH BEND - Serafim T. Philippis of South Bend fell asleep in the Lord on Friday, October 25, 2013 at the age of 91. Serafim, originally from Greece, immigrated to the U.S.A. in 1957 after marrying his loving wife Coola Vasiliki of South Bend. He owned and operated various gas and service stations in the area.

He is survived by his two sons Tim and Michael (TeAnn) and his two granddaughters Sophia and Nicole. Additional survivors are his brother Costa (Niki) and his sisters-in-law Aphrodite and Anna Pappas.

Serafim was preceded in death by his wife in 2000.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 31st from 6 pm to 8 pm in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. with the Trisagion prayer service at 7:30 pm. Funeral Services will be held at St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church on Friday, November 1, at 11:30 am, with committal services and burial to follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Andrew Greek Orthodox Church, S.A.R.E.F. Endowment Fund, 52455 Ironwood Rd., South Bend, IN, 46635.
