Billy T. Boone Sr., 66, passed away at 6:55 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, in Rehab and Care Center of Jackson County in Murphysboro.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, in Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro with the Rev. John Nordstrom officiating. Burial will be in Murdale Gardens of Memory in Murphysboro with military services conducted by American Legion Post 127, VFW Posts 7190 and 2605 and Jackson County DAV Chapter 69. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Boone was a cab driver for Yellow Cab. He served in the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army.

He was born Sept. 3, 1946, in Murphysboro to Feadora and Katherine (Robinson) Boone. He married Penny J. Hughes June 3, 2006, in Murphysboro, and she survives.

Other survivors include three children, Daniel Taylor and wife Tonya Taylor of Carbondale, Billy T. Boone II of Murphysboro, and Micah Boone and wife, Sandy Boone, of Carbondale; one grandson, Garrett Lee McGee Boone; three brothers and one sister, Patrick Tison of Belleville, Laura Baker of Kansas, Robert Boone of Texas and Jason Boone of Belleville; one nephew, Kristopher Craig; and two nieces, Kendra Craig and Katherine Craig.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Belle Boone; and his parents.
