Brian Norris, 65, passed on Sunday morning, May 13, 2012, at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, surrounded by family and friends.

Son of Richard and Sadie Norris, Brian was raised in Lyons Falls, NY. Brian discovered his passion for traveling the world and helping others after he enlisted and served as a combat medic in Vietnam. After the war, Brian graduated from Pace University with a Bachelor of Science, Nursing. Though recently retired, Brian spent most of his professional career at Central New York Psychiatric Center as a nurse administrator and as a psychiatric nurse at St. Elizabeth's. While working two jobs, Brian earned a Master's in Hospital Administration from SUNYIT. As a former Scoutmaster of Troop 79, Brian guided young minds to understand the world they live in, its history, and how to respect it, their fellow man, and themselves. He was an outdoorsman, craftsman, science, and history aficionado, and a travel enthusiast.

Brian is predeceased by his brother, Phillip Norris.

He is survived by his wife, Doreen Norris; sisters, Sharon DePiazza (husband Robert) and Carol Norris; sons, Kevin Norris (wife Jennifer) and Erik Norris; daughter, Nicole Freeman; nieces; nephews; and grandchildren.

Calling hours for Brian will be held at Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home at 40 Main Street, Whitesboro, NY, on Monday (today), May 14, 4-8 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 1736 Burrstone Road, New Hartford, NY.

Interment with Military Honors will follow at Turin Cemetery, Turin, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his former Boy Scout Troop 79 at calling hours or sent to: Attn: Boy Scout Troop 79, Chris Krecidlo, 9468 Maynard Drive, Marcy, NY 13403.
