Sadie Louise (Chaney) Mitchell, 73, of Monett, Missouri, died at 11:35 p.m. yesterday at St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield following a short illness.

Mrs. Mitchell was born September 2, 1919 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the daughter of Anthony Alfred Chaney and Stephanie Marie (LeBlanc) Chaney. She was a businesswoman and had lived in Monett, Missouri since 1946. She attended Louisiana State University (LSU) before her marriage.

She was a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Monett, had worked with the Loaves and Fishes Program, and was active in other church and community affairs.

She married G.S. "Bill" Mitchell on September 15, 1943, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and he survives her.

Additional survivors include two daughters (private), one sister, Ethel (Chaney) Whitney of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
