Born about 1824 to 1827, dependingon source (US Census records state he was born in 1824, It was suggested Carlo was born in Vermont; no source was located to confirm that or his birth year.
Son of Daniel Titus and Abigail Green; brother of Edson Titus, with whom Edson lived in 1880

On August 27, 1864, Carlo mustered in as a Private in Company G of the 9th Vermont Infantry. He transferred to Company C of the 2nd Vermont on January 20, 1865, then mustered out July 15, 1865. In 1891, he was awarded a pension of $10 a month, and $750 in arrears.
In August, 1876, Carlo broke both bones in his lower leg while crossing a field. Newspaper accounts in several papers state he was not found until the next day. In 1877, Vermont probate court judge WA Nichols appointed AJ Copeland as Carlo's guardian.

Death announcements were published in several Vermont newspapers, including the Vermont Watchman and State Journal (Montpelier, Vermont)November 8, 1893. Some transcripts of Chelsea Town Clerk records state Carlo died on November 1; several newspaper announcements state he died October 31.
