MARRIENVILLE, Pa. - Orval John Elliott Jr., 81, of Main St., East Randolph, N.Y., died Tuesday (Dec. 26, 2006) in the Snyder Memorial Health Care Center in Marienville. A lifelong area resident, he was born Dec. 4, 1925 in Hillsdale, Mich., the son of Orval and Alice Elliott Sr. Mr. Elliott was employed by Watson Metal Manufacturing in earlier years and later by Jamestown Metal Products for over 25 years. After retiring in 1978, he and his wife, Betty became caregivers to numerous mentally challenged adults from the Perrysburg, N.Y. group home. He was an avid Civil War Collector of black powder rifles and had won many awards for marksmanship in the 1960s. He was a member of the N.R.A. Ellington Rod and Gun Club and many outdoor magazine clubs. He loved wildlife and the outdoors, once raising three orphaned baby raccoons from a bottle. As his boys were growing up, he enjoyed watching them participate in all sports at Randolph Central School. He and his wife loved R.V. camping and could be found playing cards with his seven brothers and their wives and friends at Hidden Valley campgrounds. He always had a smile on his face no matter what was going on. He attended the Conewango Valley Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Surviving are three sons, Owal J. (Patricia) Elliott III and Daniel H. Elliott, both of Jamestown, N.Y. and David L. (Della) Elliott of Indianolu, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Travis, Amanda, Matt, Danni Jo, Tara, Luke, Rick, and Mark Elliott. Also surviving are seven brothers, Richard, William, Robert, Thomas, Orlo, Milo, Timothy and two sisters, Charlotte Elliott Sherman and Sarah Elliott Carlson.
