On September 39, 1861, Peyton mustered in as a Private in Company E, 2nd Vermont Infantry. He was discharged due to diability on November 27, 1862.
Vermont Journal (Windsor, Vermont) November 24, 1883 :" Peyton Huntington has gone to live with J.B. Casgrove, his own family being broken up and scattered. .. Miss Fanny Huntington has gone to Medford, Mass....."
