Master Sergeant, US Air Force
USAF MSgt. (Ret.) Charlie J. Cole, age 79 of Fairborn, passed away Wednesday April 11, 2012. He was born November 18, 1932 in Talbert, Kentucky, the son of the late Alex and Mattie (Combs) Cole. Charlie served his country in the United States Air Force during Korea and Vietnam, retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant. He followed with employment in civil service at Wright-Patterson AFB, retiring after 37 years of combined federal service. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother; and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Emiko "Amy"; two sons, Alex J. Cole and wife Karen of Aurora, Colorado, Jerome E. Cole and wife Susan of Davie, Florida; four grandchildren, Brandi, Megan, Ashley, Monique; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, James Cole; and three sisters, Mary Griffith, Phyllis Deaton, and Brenda Turner. The family will receive friends on Friday April 13, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. in the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday April 14, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Byron Cemetery.
