"Doc" was born the son of the late Don Charles Socia and Mary Frances Lake Socia.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Linda Sue Socia.
"Doc" had served in the US Army, serving in Vietnam, where he received a Purple Heart and also attained the rank of Sergeant. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He received both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts Degree from Marymount University, Arlington, VA. He retired from Marymount University as the circulation operations manager.
"Doc" is survived by his wife, Marilee Shetler Socia, Arlington, VA; a daughter, Amber Leigh Socia, also of Virginia; four brothers, William Socia, Denver, CO, Paul Socia, Wilmington, NC, Patrick Socia, Medford, OR, and Leo Socia, Carolina Beach, NC.
