***NOTE: There is a question as to whether Ransom Alford is buried in Cropsey, Illinois. "Contributor Sandra Rodman has suggested that Mr. Alford is buried in New York, but there is no evidence to support that. The newspaper article and the gravestone both indicate he is here in Cropsey Cemetery."

Fairbury Blade of Friday, May 5, 1893. In column with title CROPSEY the notice says.....

"Mr. R. C. Alford whose sickness was noted in last week's paper, died Saturday night at 9:30 (April 29, 1893) Death caused by pneumonia. He was buried here (Cropsey) Tuesday afternoon."
