Actor. Born in Baltimore Maryland and raised in New York, Hans Conried studied acting at Columbia University. He performed in radio dramas in Hollywood and was a member of Orson Welles' Mercury Theatre. His screen debut came in 1938 with the Robert Sinclair directed film, Dramatic School. He later appeared in films with roles ranging from bits to leads. During WWII, he won roles in various war pictures, usually performing as a Nazi. Most often his performances included both sinister and comedy roles. He specialized in a language verbalism which he intertwined with a variety of foreign accents for added comic effect. Hans is probably best remembered for the title role as 'Dr. Terwilliker' in the 1953 film, "The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T."
