LA MESA -- Theresa passed away Tuesday morning, September 3, 2013, at her home in La Mesa. She was born and lived in Frackville, PA, until 1938. She attended Ashland General Hospital Nursing School in Ashland, PA, receiving her RN in 1941. After a short period of nursing, she joined the U.S. Navy and was commissioned Ensign in March of 1942. During World War II, Theresa was stationed at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and also served in Norfolk, VA, then transferred to the Balboa Naval Hospital San Diego in 1947. She resigned from the 32nd St. Navy Base (San Diego) as a USN-Lt. in 1952, continuing nursing in the private sector for a short time thereafter. Theresa was loved and respected by many and is survived by her husband Don, who she married in 1948, and just recently celebrating their 65th anniversary on August 28th, plus their three sons, Don P., Doug G. and Ken A., grand- daughter Christi, and daughter-in-law Laurie. Memorial will be held at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery (Pt. Loma) at 2 p.m. on Monday, September 30th, followed by a reception.
