Thomas Bell Love was born in Hayward County, North Carolina, on December 27, 1798, and was the son of Gen. Thomas W. and Martha Patsy(Dillard) Love. Thomas B. Love married Elizabeth Barnard on July 29, 1821 in Hayward Co., NC. The 1840 Census shows the family living in Henry, Tennessee. In 1842, Thomas B. Love moved to what is now Webster Co., Mo. (Webster Co. was part of Wright County
until 1855). He homesteaded 600 acres of land (U.S. General Land Office Records, 1796-1907). This land was retained by his children until 1910. Thomas B. passed away in 1852 and owned about 25 slaves at the time of his death.

The children of Thomas B. Love and Martha Patsy (Dillard) Love: Martha (Love) Lea (1822 – 1848), Robert (1826 – 1847), Margarite Elizabeth (Love) Burnett (1828 – 1867), Joseph B. (1831 – 1875), Darcus Glorvina (Love) Johnson (1835 1865), Dianna(or Dicy) G. (1838 – 1853), Letitia J. (Love) Welch (1841 – 1914), Col. Thomas Calvin Love (1844 – 1920), and Elenor 'Ellen' B. (Love) Bouldin
(1846 – 1887). The family Bible also lists a child, Tolly, who passed away at the age of five. (according to ancestry.com), "Polly" was born April 22 1833 and died October 11, 1838 in Paris, Henry, Tenn

The "Journal on Post Offices of Webster County" published by the Historical Society states that Thomas B. Love was the first postmaster in Hazelwood, Wright, Missouri appointed March 9, 1844.
