Emily Elizabeth Arnold Ricks, born 12 December 1889 at Lyman, Madison County, Idaho to George Stephen Arnold and Mary Ann Powell. She was the second child of 11 children. Emily attended elementary school at Cedar Point. She took a dressmaking class in Rexburg and made all her own clothes.

Emily married Peter Jeppesen Ricks on October 7, 1909 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they homesteaded 160-acre dry farm then bought a 40-acre wet farm from her grandfather Arnold's farm and later built a nice rock home on an 80-acre wet farm bought from Father-in-law Joseph Ricks. She had 8 children, Mary Vivian(Atkinson), Peter Jeppesen Ricks Jr, LaVere Arnold Ricks, Beulah(Blaser), Rudger Vernon Ricks, Jospeh Arnold Ricks, Mark George Ricks, and LoRene(Jenkins).

Emily traveled to nearly every state in the United States including Canada, Mexico City and Puerto Rico. While her husband was Stake President for 17 years, she entertained 26 different General Authorities in her home. She served in the primary teaching for 23 years then President for 13 years. A counselor in Y.L.M.I.A., a teacher in Sunday School and worked on the Genealogical Committee. From 1934 to 1944 she was 1st Counselor in the Relief Society, then 1944 to 1952 served as Relief Society President. Emily served with her husband over the Southern States Mission from 1952-1955. She worked as an officiator in the Idaho Falls Temple from 1957 until her death. Emily Arnold Ricks died January 21, 1962 in Rexburg, Idaho and is buried in Sutton Cemetery.
She was preceded by a son (Joseph Arnold Ricks) that was killed 1945, in Germany during World War II.

She was a good mother, wife, sister and friend to all who knew her and she did much to help teach the Gospel to others.
