Michael Samuel Drake passed away peacefully March 5, 2013, at his home surrounded by his wife and loved ones.

Michael was born in Spokane on Aug. 22, 1941. His family later moved to Walla Walla, where he attended school and graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1959. After graduation he attended Columbia Basin Community College, Washington State University, and graduated from California State University, Sacramento, with a B.A. in psychology. Sacramento then became his home. His intent was to become a counselor for children, but his path lead him to become a mortgage banker, which was his career for 40 years.

Michael was married to Margo Lane and they had two children, Sean and Rhonda. On June 24, 1989, he married Julee Baker and is survived by her at their family home in Newcastle, Calif.

Michael loved his family, friends, hunting, fishing, antiques and collecting fine wine.

He was a member of several organizations: Elks, Ducks Unlimited, Rocky Mountain Elk Hunters Foundation, Rotary. Michael had an incredible work ethic that started as a very young boy and carried on throughout his life.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Glen Hallard Bright; mother, Mary Drake-Fanning; father, Lynn Drake; stepfather, Robert Fanning; brother, Kenny Drake; and his grandparents. He is survived by his wife, Julee; son, Sean Drake (Gail); daughter, Rhonda Drake; and grandchildren, Tony Stabile, Conner Drake, Dhillon Stabile, Trevor Drake and Addison Stabile; brother, Sterling Drake (Carlene); sister, Janeen Drake-Lathrop (Kerry); brothers-in-law, Rick Baker (Cheryl) and Craig Baker; and many nieces and nephews.v
