Born July 18, 1893, in Durant, he was the son of Gus and Mary Gruemmer.
He married Mary E. Peterson on March 8, 1911 in Muscatine. A resident of Wilton for a number of years, he had moved to Davenport in 1944.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Henry C. of Wilton, Fred G. of Durant and Lyle J. of Castro Valley, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Truman (Violet) Fletcher of Warsaw, Ill., Mrs. R. A. (Florence) Roberts of Woodstock, Ill., and Mrs. E. V. (Lois) Tarrgen of BauGallie, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Henry Petersen and Mrs. Reynold Dahms, both of Muscatine; 23 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, and a twin brother.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at the Runge Chapel in Davenport. Burial will be at the Memorial Park cemetery in Davenport. Friends may call at the funeral home after 12 p.m. Thursday.
