He was a member of Company B. Eighth Wisconsin Infantry of the United States Army in the Civil War.
For many years the old soldier has been failing in health and his condition was such that he desired to sit upright and for several years he sat in a rocking chair day and night.
He is survived by a widow and five daughters and one son, as follows: Mrs. Archie Kincaid, Mrs. William Savage , of Terre Haute, Mrs. John Grable of Jasonville, Mrs Merle Alford, Miss Jessie and Walter. The funeral service will be held at the family residence at 2 p.m. Thursday, the Unided Brethren minister presiding and the burial will be made in the Harmony Cemetery.
