Jacob Chaplin, an old time resident of this community, passed away at his home eight miles south of Blue Hill last Saturday. Funeral services were held Monday forenoon from the home and interment made in the Elm Creek cemetery.
Jacob Chaplin was born May 1, 1833, and at the time of his death was 80 years and 2 days of age. Besides a wife he leaves two daughters and five sons. Until about three years ago Mr Chaplin lived here in Blue Hill. Since moving back onto his farm he had not been in very good health and gradually failed until the end came last Saturday.
