Salome "Sally" (HELMICK) DECOURCEY, was bpt. 11 Jun 1796 at Jacob's Lutheran Church, German Twp., Fayette Co., PA, dau. of Nicholas Helmick (1760-1844) and his first wife, Mary Franks (1769-1830).

She married 21 Jan 1815 at Stark County, Ohio to Isaac DeCoursey aka Isaac CORSA (1793-1884) and they made their home on the site of the present Knupp Church Cemetery where she is buried. Her husband, Issac DeCourcey 1793-1884, was honored by the Rittman, Ohio Bicentennial Commission in 1976 with a memorial plaque placed in the Knupp Church cemetery recognizing him as the first white settler of their town. He is buried at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Faribault, MN.

In August 1840 the household of Isaac DeCOURSEY at Watertown, Jefferson Co., Wisconsin Territory consisted of two males 20 thru 29 (Peter DeCoursey and Ambrose Comstock?), one male 40 thru 49 (Isaac DeCoursey), one female 10-14 (unknown, butossibly Loricia Mills?), one female 20 thru 29 (Isaac's dau. Mary DeCoursey?)and one female 40-49 (Isaac's wife,Sally Helmick DeCoursey?).
[This indicates that Isaac's wife, Sally (Helmick) DeCoursey, born 1796, probably was still alive and accompanied her husband Isaac to Wisconsin Territory along with their son, Peter DeCoursey. Sally is not found on the 1850 census, so she probably died and was buried between 1840 and 1850 at or near Watertown, Jefferson Co., WI.) - W. L. DeCoursey.

On 31 Dec 1840 Isaac and Sally DeCoursey's daughter, Mary DeCoursey, married at Watertown, Jefferson Co., WI to Ambrose Lewis Comstock.

On 5 July 1846 Isaac and Sally DeCoursey's son, Peter DeCoursey married at Ixonia, Jefferson Co., WI to Loricia "Larissa" MILLs.

SPECULATION - The unknown female teen ager 10-14 in the household of Isaac DeCoursey in 1840 might have been Loricia MILLs, born abt 1827, probable dau. of Joel Mills by his first marriage. Loricia Mills, then 13 years old, might have been working in the DeCoursey home as a domestic. Ambrose Lewis Comstock was born at St. Lawrence Co., NY and migrated from there to Dodge/Jefferson Co., WI. He likely was acquainted with the family of Joel MILLS from the same place.
