Mr. Herman L. Caldwell, 71, of Dalton went to his heavenly home Friday, October 25, 2013 at his home after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Victor and Trellis Babb Caldwell and was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roy and Claudell Vaughn Richardson; sister-in-law, Allo Bartenfeld and niece, Susan Jensen. Herman was involved in the carpet industry for more than 50 years; he was employed by Tuftco Finishing as Vice President of International Sales. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he received the Purple Heart. He was a member of Kinsey Drive Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife Pat Caldwell, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 17th, 2013; daughter and son-in-law, Krisie and Jeff Howard; granddaughter, Lindsay (David) Hall and grandson, Brandon Howard all of Dalton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Vic and Marilyn Caldwell of Sun City, AZ, Ray and Jan Caldwell of Redmond, WA, Tom and Sharon Caldwell of Chattanooga, TN; brother-in-law, George Bartenfeld of Dalton; nieces, Melody Thum, Joy Troyer, Caryn Thomas of Washington and Kaye Lipscomb of Dalton; nephews, Brian Caldwell of Washington, Chad Caldwell of Ringgold and Kevin Caldwell of Chattanooga; many special friends including Elaine McClure and Marlene Schneider. The service to honor the life of Mr. Caldwell will be on Monday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Dr. Ron McKinney and the Rev. Gary Scott officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery with Eugene Bartenfeld, Hoyt Bartenfeld, Chad Caldwell, Kevin Caldwell, David Lowery and Kenneth Pritchett serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home on Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Kinsey Drive Baptist Church, 2626 Kinsey Drive S.W., Dalton, Ga. 30720.
