Delores Case, 97, of Independence, MO passed away Friday, October 25, 2013. A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Monday, October 28th at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A graveside service will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday, October 28th at the Green Lawn Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.
Delores was born May 24, 1916 in Olsburg, KS to John M. and Myrtle A. (Walker) Berry as the youngest of nine children. She attended Adams Speaks School and graduated from Fostoria Kansas High School. Delores worked in the mail room of Sears from 1954 until her retirement in 1971. She enjoyed participating in the Eagles Club, oil painting, and flower gardening.
Delores is survived by grandsons, Danny Shope and wife Sarah; Chris Shope all of Independence, MO; grandson, Steve Shope and wife Marney of Kansas City, MO; granddaughter, Cherry Wright and husband Harry of Independence, MO; five great-grandchildren; three grear-great-grandchildren and many other extended family members who love and will miss her. She was preceded in death by husbands, Howard H. Shope (died 1955) and James E. "Jim" Case, Sr. (died 1981).
