Mae Barnes, 95, a longtime Columbia resident, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, in Andover, Kan.

A celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Peace Lutheran Church, located at 405 W. 21st St. in Andover.
Funeral services in Columbia will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, at Memorial Funeral Home. There will be a visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Funeral Home. Due to the expected cold weather, a committal ceremony in lieu of graveside services will be held immediately following in Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
Mae was born in Clarksville, Iowa, Dec. 14, 1916, to Roy and Laura Louise Conn Doty. On Jan.16, 1943, she married John T. Barnes Jr., in Little Rock, Ark., and he survives.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her two sons, John T. "Jay" Barnes III (Shirley) of Wichita, Kan., and Robert Gene "Bob" Barnes (Susan) of Fair Grove; two grandchildren, Jason Lee Barnes (Rachel) of Springfield and Shanyn Mae Barton (Travis) of Fair Grove; and two great-grandchildren, Kaleb and Kailynn Barton of Fair Grove.
Mae was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings.
