John A. Buswell, 85, of Indianapolis, passed away October 26, 2013. He was born December 13, 1927 in Culver, IN to the late Samuel Herbert and Lillie Mae Seese Buswell.
John served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II. During the Korean War, he was with the MCB6 Battalion. He was employed at Indiana Bell, retiring in 1986 and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
John was a member and avid volunteer at Castleton United Methodist Church. He also volunteered with Metro Ministries and was presented with the "Missioner of the Year Award" twice.
He worked extensively on family genealogy, loved gardening, fishing, pool, darts, building model ships and traveling all over the country. "Congenial John" was an exceptional handyman, always helping others.
John is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Ann M. Buswell; children, Susie Gettz (Jim), Cynthia Buswell (Travis Edenfield), Sandy Whicker (Elizabeth Davis), Mike Buswell (Stacie Morris), Jason Rhoades (Jessica) and Julie Sagur (Luke); grandchildren, Katie, Rebecca, Andrew, Sam, Annabelle, Anderson and Ella; and a sister, Mary Lou Loftus.
Preceding him in death, his first wife of 41 years, Jean Pask Buswell; a brother, Jack Buswell; and a sister, Sally Schafer.
