George Francis was the first child* of John August Fox and Christina Zeun Fox, and the grandson of John Fuchs and Frances B Mueller Fuchs, and Johann Georg Zeun and Maria Eva Geibel (of Gronau, Germany). There are discrepancies regarding George's year of birth. The grave marker says 1868, his obituary says 1867, and family legend says he was born in 1869! The 1868 birth would herald 9 mos. of conception 15 days after his parents married! George married Margaret Anna "Marguerite" -- or as her grave marker reads = Anna M. (see grave photo)(known to family as "Aunt Mollie"), and an 1880 census records her birth as being February 1868, though her grave shows 1866, making her either 7 months older than George or 2 years and 7 months. They had one son, Carlton W., who was born in 1896 and who served in World War I. George had greenhouses for a florist business he owned off of Old Annapolis Road (Jones Station), in Anne Arundel Co. Mollie wrote the Bahrs a postcard from West Palm Beach, dated Sept. 11, 1935. She writes, "Uncle George is feeling better. I hope he will get well." One month and eight days later, he passed this life. (*George's siblings were: John August Fox, Jr. [see memorial], Eva Fox, Minnie Fox, Elizabeth Caroline Fox Bahr, Mary Fox [Meyer-Miller] [see memorial], Pauline A. Fox [Lehner] [see memorial], William E. Fox [see memorial], and Harry Fox [see memorial]).
