Pfc. Carlo J. Acierno, 21, was killed May 29, while fighting with the marines in Okinawa, the Navy Department has informed his sister. Mrs. Charles Sciametta of 1311 68th Street, Twleve days before he was killed he met his nephew Corp. Joseph Colucci, also of Brooklyn, on Okinawa.
He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Acierno, and attended Public School 176 and the Manhattan High School of Aviation Trades.
He is survived by three other sisters, Mrs. Carmine Colucci, Mrs. Nunzio Colonna, and Marie Acierno and four brothers Angelo, Henry, Tony and James.
A solemn mass of requiem will be offered at 9am tomorrow in St. Rosalia's R. C. Church, 64th St. and 14th avenue.

On 16 February 1942, 3/1 was re-activated at New River, North Carolina. In July 1942, they deployed to Wellington, New Zealand and participated in the following World War II campaigns: Guadalcanal, Eastern New Guinea, New Britain, Peleliu and Okinawa.
