RED WING, Minn. — Robert Gerald Mrozek, 88, of Red Wing, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at Potter Ridge in Red Wing. He was born on Aug. 25, 1925, in Winona to Vince and Frances (Lejk) Mrozek. He attended school in Winona and later received his G.E.D. He then served in the US Navy from 1943-1946 during World War II. On April 23, 1949, he married Theresa Breza. They lived in Winona until 1974 when they moved to Red Wing. For many years he worked for Xcel Energy as a welder. Theresa died on July 17, 2004. While in Winona, he was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and currently a member of the Church of St. Joseph in Red Wing. He also was a member of the Westfield Golf Club in Winona and the Red Wing Country Club and the Leo C. Peterson American Legion Post #54. Robert enjoyed golfing, traveling, hunting and playing cards.

Survivors include his six children, David of Red Wing, Paula (Roger) Sandsness of Winona, Gary (Linda) of Rollingstone, Minn., Joseph (Doreen) of Cochrane, Wis., Maureen (Steve) Alms of Red Wing and Thomas of Welch, Minn.; six grandchildren, Michael (Meg) Sandsness, Brittany (Andy) Schow, Chelsea Mrozek, Chas (Ann) Mrozek, Casey Jo Mrozek and Tanner Alms; one great-grandchild, Allie Sandsness; three sisters, Ruth Baran of Sarasota, Fla., Cornella Schultz of Sarasota, Fla., and Harriet Roth of Rochester, Minn. He was preceded in death by his wife; three brothers, Edmund, Gilbert and Elmer; and one sister, Leona Bellus.

Mass of the Resurrection will be Monday, Oct. 14, at 3 p.m. at the Church of St. Joseph in Red Wing with Frs. Paul Breza, Don Lovas and Milo Ernster presiding. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Winona. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorials are preferred to the church or to the Winona Polish Cultural Institute and Museum. Funeral arrangements are by the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, Red Wing.
