Carlton Ralph Chilton, born June 23, 1927 in Greensboro N.C., son of Lindsey Richard and Mable Lemons Chilton. Predeceased by brother Lindsey Richard "Rick" Chilton and John Alton Chilton. Survived by wife Carole and sister Gay Cable and her husband Robert of Greensboro, N.C., son Jon Richard Chilton and wife Aimee of Waxhaw, N.C. and grandchildren William and Amber, also daughter, Laura Calhoun and husband Greg of Alpharetta, Ga., and grandchildren Rachel, Sarah, and Elizabeth.

Ralph attended Guilford College, joined the US Merchant Marines during World War II and graduated from High Point University in 1949. Served in US Army Corps of Engineers during the Korean Conflict and upon discharge returned to employment at Retail Credit Co. (renamed Equifax in 1970). Serving as a Sales representative in St. Louis in 1953 he met Carole Ederer. They were married at Church of the Ascention Episcopal church. Shortly afterward they were transferred to Atlanta where he served as a Sales Representative until promoted to District Manager and moved to New Orleans. He later held the same positions in Nashville and again moved to Atlanta. During his career he served in several service and business organizations and had terms as President of the Atlanta Toastmasters Club, Piedmont-Buford Civitan Club, and Atlanta Casualty underwriters association.

He was an active member in the Episcopal Church and served on Vestry and as Senior warden at St. Jude's Church in Marietta prior to becoming a communicant at St. Teresa's where he became a member in 2000. After retirement in 1989 Ralph enjoyed golf, gardening, travel, and bridge.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Teresa's Episcopal Church Building Fund, 1173 Mars Hill Road, Acworth, GA 30101.

Funeral Services will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, October 29th at St. Jude's Episcopal Church in Marietta with Rev. Larry C. Williams, Rev. Robert Abstein and Rev. Charles Fulton officiating.
