Charles Newton "Chuck" Harris, 81 of Waxahachie, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2013. Charles was born July17, 1932 in the Buena Vista/Sardis area of Ellis County and attended schools in Waxahachie. He began working at Texas Power & Light in 1950 and retired from TP&L/TU Electric Company in 1992 after 41 years of employment in Waxahachie, Ennis, Brownwood, Killeen, Temple and Waco. He married Marilyn Jo Cox on April 30, 1955 at First Baptist Church in Waxahachie, recently celebrating their 58th wedding anniversary.

Charles served in the 49th Armored Division of the Texas National Guard for nine years, honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant. He was a member of the Church of Christ and the Sonshine Bible Class at Farley Street Baptist Church in Waxahachie.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Oscie Newton Harris and Beulah Eckeberger Harris; brothers, Aaron A. Allen and Billy Jack Allen; grandparents, Andy C. and Sarah Arbaugh Harris; John M. and Pazzie Joyner Eckeberger.

His surviving family members are wife, Marilyn Jo; daughters, Joni Henson and husband, James; Lori Holland and husband, Michael; son, Kyle Alan Harris and wife, Maya; nine grandchildren, Garrett Henson, Jacob Henson, Julianne Henson, Caitlin Cain and husband, Derek, Paige Holland, Austin Harris, Reagan Harris, Maxwell Harris and Benjamin Harris; brother, Talmadge Harris; sisters, Hazel Jo Mitchell and Bobbie Joyce Griffin; sisters-in-law, Margorie Allen, Dorothy Cox and Susan Pannill and husband, Mark; brother-in-law, Glenn Cox and wife Debbie; and several nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

Services to celebrate his life are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel of Wayne Boze funeral Home with Brother Richard Smith officiating. Interment will follow at the Sardis Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Wayne Boze Funeral Home.
