Bessie Lee Leatherwood Strickland Riley Bessie Lee Leatherwood Strickland Riley (formerly of Ozark, Alabama) passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013, at Valley View Health and Rehab in Madison, Alabama. She was 81. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 25, 2013, at Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Billy Gaither officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 pm until service time on Friday. Bessie Lee was born April 13, 1932 in Dale County, Alabama, daughter of the late Marcus and Rendy Lee Pearson Leatherwood. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church and retired from GTE as an operator following 25 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cullen William Brian Strickland. Survivors include two daughters: Brenda Joan Cowle and husband, Alan, of Ayersville, OH, and Tamara Lynn Reboul and husband, R.J., of Madison, AL; one son, Kelly Brian Strickland and wife, Laura Louise, of Enterprise, AL; two sisters: Valeria Attaway and husband, Jerry, and Pauline Waits, all of Ozark, AL; one brother, Buddy Leatherwood, of Perry, GA; eight grandchildren: Michelle Cowle, Shane Cowle, Joshua Reboul, Cheyenne Strickland, Brianna Strickland, Kenneth Strickland, Emalyn Strickland, and Benjamin Strickland; three great-grandchildren: Jorja Cowle, Liam Cowle and Shane Cowle, Jr.; two special cousins: Ann Shlam and Carrie Norton; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins
