Sally M. May of Lake Ariel died Sunday afternoon at Commonwealth Hospice at Regional Hospital of Scranton following an illness. Her husband of 47 years was Walter J. May who passed away in 2005.
Born in Avoca, daughter of the late Henry and Nellie Hall Nelson, she was a graduate of Avoca High School and attended the South Canaan Free Methodist Church. She had worked at Polarized Meat Processing as a production worker.
Surviving are a daughter Alice Black and her husband Ian of Lake Ariel; a sister Donna Portanova of Dunmore, Mildred Fitch of Gouldsboro, and Mary Marranca of Pittston; a brother Jacob Nelson of Pittston.
She was preceded in death by a brother Robert; a sister Sandra Testa.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the S. Canaan Free Methodist Church 19 St. Tikhons Rd. S. Canaan, PA 18459.
Friends may call Monday from 10-11 a.m. at the church.
Cremation took place in the Lake Region Crematory at the James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.
Arrangements by the James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.
