Norvaline Cates Hale, 82, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013. She was born in Madison Co., Ky., on December 27, 1930, the daughter of the late Alex and Sue Masters Cates. She was a graduate of Kirksville High School and Eastern Ky. University and received a Doctorate Degree from Indiana University. She was a Professor in the College of Business at Eastern Ky. University for 32 years. Norvaline was a farmer and pursued many other business interests.
Survivors include one daughter, Lana Sue Harrison; four grandchildren, Terry Gortney (Doris), Jessica Hale, Eve Gortney and Lindsey Prater (Brandon); five great-grandchildren, Gary Willis, Tyler Hale, Thristian Hale, Sebastian Poynter and Gabriella Gortney; a special aunt, Ruth Chandler and several cousins.
Funeral Services at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Fort and Johny Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
