Carolyn June Rowland of Tucker, GA died Saturday, March 8, 2003. She graduated from Georgia State College for Women at age 19 and did her graduate work at the University of Georgia and Georgia State University. She taught school for 30 years in the DeKalb County School System. She was Social Studies Team Coach at Chamblee High School. Mrs. Rowland was president of Laurel Ridge Elementary PTA and of the Shamrock High School PTA. She was a founding member of University Heights Methodist Church and currently a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tucker. She was preceded in death by her father, Curtis L. Johnson.
Mrs. Rowland is survived by her husband, Charles E. Rowland , Jr., Tucker, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike & Amy Rowland , Savannah, GA, Rick & Kathy Rowland , Woodstock, GA, David & Michele Rowland , Dallas, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Linda Rowland & Steve Sessler, Atlanta, GA; sisters, Frances Henderson, Covington, GA, Diane Wren, Covington, GA; mother, Nellie Steele Johnson, Covington, GA; 8 grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church of Tucker. Dr. Michael L. Cash & Rev. Sondra Jones will officiate. Interment will be in Lawnwood Memorial Park.
