A Celebration of Life Shannon Joyce (Klepzig) Reed was born July 22, 1929, in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of Lewis and Ada (Hibner) Klepzig. She grew up in the Fremont, Mo., area where she graduated from high school. April 19, 1947, she married Walter "Bill" E. Reed in Van Buren, Mo. Shannon and Bill were blessed with three children, Gale, Gary and Beverly. The family moved to Birch Tree, Mo., in June of 1951, where they have made their home for the past 54 years. Shannon was a full-time homemaker until the children reached their teen years. She then worked part-time until she went to work at the OEO office in Winona, Mo. There she worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for 27 years, retiring in 1994. She was an original member of the Birch Tree Town and Country Club; a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. Auxiliaries; and a member of the United Methodist Church, where she served several years as the Methodist Youth Leader. She also served as treasurer until ill health required her to vacate the position. Shannon was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Ada; stepmother, Ruth; one brother, Don Klepzig; and one grandson, Travis Reed. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bill Reed, of the home; son and daughterin-law, Gale and Bonnie of Yukon, Okla.; son, Gary and Cindy of St. Louis, Mo; daughter, Beverly Pelliccio of Springfield, Mo.; six grandchildren, Khristi, Stephanie, Brian, Angela, Elicia and Melissa; six great-grandchildren, Selena, Hannah, Connor, Melissa, Chase and Bradley; brothers, Ray and wife, Billie Klepzig of Moab, Utah, and Ronald Klepzig of Del Rio, Texas; sister, Mary Sue and husband, Marvin Ritter of Neelyville, Mo.; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who loved her dearly. Shannon passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005, in Willow Springs, Mo., at the age of 76 years, two months, and five days. She will be missed by all her loved ones now that she has gone home to be with those that have passed on before. Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005, at the Yarber Mortuary, Mtn. View, Mo. Funeral services were held at the Birch Tree United Methodist Church with Rev. David Fowler officiating on Friday, Sept. 30, 2005, at 10 a.m. Burial was at the Oak Forest Cemetery in Birch Tree, Mo.
