, died Ronnie Dale Brewer, 65, a native of Lauderdale County, passed away Friday, October 25, 2013, at his residence. He was a member of Underside Baptist Church, U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, retired from Brown's Ferry after 34 years of service where he was affectionately called "Red Bone," former Commander of American Legion Post #11 and VFW Post #5140, and a retired volunteer fireman of Underwood/Petersville Fire Department. Ronnie was an avid sports fan and loved the Alabama Crimson Tide. In his youth, he attended Coffee High School where he excelled in sports. His accomplishments include being selected as a member of the All-State Team in football. He was also a member of the 1964 National Champion Team at Coffee High School. Ronnie was awarded a football scholarship at Florence State College, now the University of North Alabama. Ronnie loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports, and was very supportive of the local youth sports programs. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at Greenview Funeral Home with the funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel. Officiating will be Pastor Mike Nash and friend, Jack Townsend. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park. Military funeral honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #11. Mr. Brewer was preceded in death by his parents, E.F. and Lucille Brewer; brother, Ray Brewer; sister, Nell Herston; and grandson, Landon Clemmons. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Donna Hayes Brewer; son, Chad Brewer (Deidra); daughters, Kacy Clemmons (Brad), Kira Brewer; sister, Judy Allen; grandchildren, Brannon May, Hayden and Darby Clemmons, Brooklyn and Blayden Brewer. Active pallbearers will be his nephews: Bill Herston Jr. Shea Brewer, Russell Allen and Butch Watkins, Steven Smith and Chris Kilpatrick.
